Introduction

Reference Medicine (referred to herein as “Reference Medicine”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of information collected from individuals who use our website (“Site”) and other online services we provide (the Site and other online services referred to collectively as our “Services”).  Each individual whose data is collected, used, disclosed or processed in connection with our Services is referred to in this Privacy Policy as “you” and all such individuals are also referred to collectively (as context requires) as “you”.

1. Non-Personal Information and Personal Information We Collect

A. Non-Personal Information:  We may collect certain information that does not identify you directly or indirectly (“Non-Personal Information”).  The Non-Personal Information we may collect includes the following:

  • Web usage data, including data about your interaction with our Services (e.g., amount of time spent on Site pages), your browser type and version, general location of the device you use to access our Services (e.g., state, country), and sources of traffic on our Site.

B. Personal Information:  We may also collect information that identifies you or which could reasonably be used to identify you (“Personal Information”).  The Personal Information we may collect includes the following:

  •  Your full name;
  • Your email address;
  • Company/organization with which you are affiliated; and
  • Any additional Personal Information you choose to include in inquiries/communications you send to us through your use of our Services
2. How We Collect Non-Personal Information and Personal Information

A. Non-Personal Information: We collect certain Non-Personal Information automatically as you navigate our Services. For example, we collect Non-Personal Information through our use of web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and other tracking technologies such as cookies (see below for further description of our use of tracking technologies).

B. Personal Information:  We collect Personal Information when you choose to share such Personal Information with us (e.g., when sending us an inquiry or filling out a web form on our Site).

3. Purposes for Which We Use and Disclose Non-Personal Information and Personal Information

A. Uses and Disclosures of Non-Personal Information: We use Non-Personal Information for web analytics purposes, such as analyzing Site traffic and other metrics and evaluating/optimizing our Services. We disclose Non-Personal Information to our third-party vendors that assist us with the operation of our Services.

B. Uses of Personal Information: We use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • to provide our Services and support the operation of our Services;

4. Security of Personal Information

We implement reasonable and appropriate security measures designed to prevent unauthorized access to, or use or disclosure of, Personal Information. For example, we choose to work with vendors that protect the security of Personal Information through effective security controls and we use programs and tools with features that allow us to reasonably protect the security of Personal Information.  Please note, however, that there are inherent risks in electronic transmission of information and although we use security measures to protect Personal Information, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access to, or use or disclosure of, Personal Information will never occur.

5. Retention of Personal Information

We retain Personal Information for the time period needed to fulfill the purposes of using and disclosing such Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy, unless applicable laws or regulations require us to retain the Personal Information for a longer period, in which case we retain the Personal Information for the time period prescribed by such laws and regulations.

6. Children Under 13

Our Services are not directed towards children under 13 years old and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13 years old.  In circumstances where we discover that we have collected Personal Information from a child under 13 years old, we will seek to promptly delete such Personal Information. Please contact us at solutions@referencemedicine.com if you believe that we have collected Personal Information from any child under the age of 13.

7. Third-Party Vendors

We share Personal Information with our third-party vendors so that they may support us in connection with our provision of our Services. For example, we work with vendors that provide us with tools and platforms to store and manage Personal Information. Although we do not control these third-party vendors, we make commercially reasonable efforts to work only with those vendors that comply with applicable laws and implement reasonable measures to protect Personal Information.

8. Requests for Deletion or Modification of Personal Information

If we maintain any Personal Information about you and you wish to request that we delete or modify/correct your Personal Information, you may submit a request to us at solutions@referencemedicine.com. Please note that in some cases we may not be able to honor your request (e.g., in a situation where we are required to retain Personal Information in order to comply with a legal obligation). In any event, we will respond to requests for deletion and modification of Personal Information as required by applicable laws and regulations.

9. Links to Third-Party Websites

Our Services may include links to third-party websites, however, please be aware that we do not endorse or recommend such third-party websites and we are not responsible for the privacy practices related to such third-party websites. When you access a third-party website through a link on our Services, you are bound by the privacy policies and practices of that third party. Therefore, we encourage you to read the privacy policies on any third-party websites you visit.

10. Tracking Technologies

As noted above, we use tracking technologies, including web analytics tools through which we collect and use Non-Personal Information. We also collect cookies (which are pieces of data that are saved on your web browser so your device can be recognized when you use our Services in the future). We use cookies for purposes of authentication and security, to remember your preferences, for advertising and research, and for performance and analytics purposes. We use these tools to better understand your interaction with our Services and to monitor, analyze and optimize certain aspects of our Services. You can instruct your browser to disable tracking technologies, however, if such technologies are disabled it may interfere with your ability to fully use certain features of our Services.

11. International Transfers of Information

As permitted by applicable laws and in connection with providing our Services, we may transfer Non-Personal Information and Personal Information internationally from the country in which you access/use our Services to the United States or to other countries where we may store such information. The country or countries to which such information is transferred may not have the same privacy or data protection laws as the country in which you access or use our Services; thus, such information may be subject to different legal protections once transferred. In any event, we will protect the privacy and security of such information as specified in this Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect any changes to the ways in which we collect, use or disclose Personal Information and/or Non-Personal Information, in response to changing legal requirements or as we otherwise determine is necessary.
