Oncology Specimen Provider Reference Medicine Adopts New LIMS Structure, Advancing End-to-End Biospecimen Tracking and Laboratory Operations

Biospecimen procurement involves complex, highly specialized workflows that extend beyond traditional laboratory operations, from donor and collection-site coordination through specimen processing, storage, and eventual distribution to researchers. The new LIMS structure, powered by Sapio Sciences, brings those workflows together within a centralized system. Configured specifically around Reference Medicine’s operations, the system supports tracking, beginning with the donor and collection institution, continuing through biobanking and specimen management, and ultimately through distribution to the researcher receiving the specimen for a specific research application.
The implementation expands Reference Medicine’s ability to manage information across that end-to-end process within one system. It also provides a configurable structure that can accommodate additional workflows as the company’s operations and research partnerships evolve.
